Art Dump, High School, and College Oh my

My senior year of high school and becoming a college freshman has taken up so much of my time that I almost forgot that this blog existed until my brother told me that some people that he knew found my blog and really liked it and my work. So, thank you! Just because I've been busy doesn't mean I haven't stopped making art, I've actually made a ton but most of it is traditional because I haven't had a computer or laptop for a few months. So here is some stuff that I've done over the past six months. Most of the stuff I've been doing is in my sketchbook or is from bookbinding (a new hobby of mine and I'm also picking embroidering back up), but these are most of the projects I've been doing in class or in my free time. Enjoy!

First Illustration of Summer Break

I haven't been feeling too creative recently, so I just used and old sketch and tried to work with it. It's the same with writing. I just haven't been feeling up to it lately, But I'm glad I was able to at least get this completed while in my lil' funk.

Mage Outfits

Was in the mood for designing some mage outfits. I made a few but ended up working on this one more than the rest. The idea here was that there are different types of mages. Just like how people in certain areas of the world wear certain types of clothing based on their environment and culture, I wanted to make mage outfit based on that. This one I imagine lives in a temperate area, where the people live off the land and make all of their own possessions. There are clans and probably more.

Trying New Things

I was watching Benjamin Ee paint some portraits so I could get into the artsy mood, and I really liked how he started off his paintings like how a lot of alla prima paintings are started. So I decided to try it out. I had a lot of fun with it, but the more I worked on it, the more I began to hate the piece, so I reverted it back into its more sketchy form and and just touched up some minor things. I like this version a whole more than what I was making when I kept rendering. I had a lot of fun with this piece and I think I'll keep using this technique in the future.

Didn't have much to do these last few days, so I sat down and doodled a banner I'll possibly use in the future.

Alien Head II

I have been doing a lot of portfolio stuff recently since I plan on applying to SCAD soon, and want to really work and improve it. So, since I have a bunch of 2D designs, I decided to work on some more 3D work, especially since my first 3D Alien Head was not very good. This one though, it by far has to be one of my favorite piece I have ever created. I'm beyond proud of it and really love it.

Help CHHS Chior and help me be able to go to school at SCAD!

Good morning!

Recently, my Highschool chior has been lacking in equipment that we could really use in order to better our learning experience and class overall. Our chair are falling apart, most are missing backs...literally. If I had a picture I would show you be believe me, it's bad. Also, in this classroom there is about 40+ us, all standing on only two sets of very uncomfortable risers. Now imagine 40 nearly adult teens, most being over five foot, crammed together on only about 20ftX6ft of space, all trying to remain as straight and as tall as possible in order to have correct singing posture. Yeah. I can vouche that it's not very comfortable and some of us fall off sometimes. As a result, the CHHS chior and myself have been selling cookie dough these last couple of days in order to raise money to buy an extra set of risers and some new chairs that we don't fall through when we sit in them.

We have a large variety of cookie dough that we are selling, anything from brownie, to snicker doodles, and more. The dough comes in a large tub, about 8-10 inches in diameter and 2&1/2 inches thick. Or you can order for the same price, pre-portioned cookie dough. All of this dough is just $17, no extra charge or fees. I know that might sound like a lot of money for some dough, and I'll agree that it is a bit much, but we need this new equipment and we need help getting it.

Not only this, but if someone sells 6-10 or even more tubs of cookie dough, they will then be given scholarships for college. Now, the way I see it, if you buy a tub of cookie dough, that is only $17, then you are not only helping an entire class, but you are helping someone's future. For $17 you are helping buy someone's education and practically the rest of their lives. That sounds like a pretty good bargain in my opinion.

Right now, I plan on becoming a Conceptual and graphic designer, and wish to learn these skills at SCAD. And it would mean so much to me, if I was able to go to art school, all because someone bought some dough.

If you are interested in helping my friends and I out, whether it be with chior or with college, then please contact me at:

I thank you all so much and CHHS Chior thanks you too!

Experiment II

Finally finished this! It's the continuation to "Experimented" but on this one I decided to take more time and render things a bit. And ohh boy... This one took so long because I was jut redesigning and redesigning everything. But now that it's done, I'm mostly happy with it.

Re-design

It's the weekend once more, and I decided to take some old stuff and try working on it so I can try and add some more to my portfolio. I'm sure that if you're on my blog, you'll recognize this, haha. I actually just realized today that it's been about two years since I originally made this, and looking back at some of the original stuff...well, to put it kindly, it was "cringe worthy". So I decided to work on this little bugger (of course pun intended) and I really like it. This has to be one of my favorite designs.

Portraits and SCAD

Have been on sort of an art/creative block for a little while now, so I've just been passing my time painting portraits and going back to fundamentals. I used a ref of this lovely lady. Also, today at school Mr. Menendez, at teacher of mine who is really helping me with my portfolio and career, got me out of choir today and let join his class for a bit while some people from SCAD talked about their school and what kinds of opportunities they have to offer. And I'm gonna be real honest, I'm super interested. I'm still really hesitant to go to art school because of what my dad others keep saying. But this place really seems like a great opportunity for me, and could give me almost exactly what I've wanted my whole life. It worries me so much though. It's away from home. My boyfriend doesn't want me to go. My dad defiantly doesn't want me to go. It's a hard decision.

"By the Sea Shore"

I'm sad to say it, but the musical I was taking part in for the last five months has come to an end. I felt compelled to put an exclamation mark at the end of that first sentence but alas, I am still sad that it's all over. Now that I have all this time to do whatever I want with, I decided to finally sit down and as a result I made this pretty generic and half rendered thing. I really liked making it though. it was a good experiment for both lighting, texture, and water. Oh water.

Formation?

I've finally gotten a break today, in the madness that is my life, and was able to start and finish this. I actually really like it and see some growth even though I can't remember the last time I painted. I've just been so busy with traveling and festivities and relationships-- it's all kind of taken a huge tole on my painting/learning/work time.

Updates: More studies!!

I haven't had much time for anything too extensive lately. I've been really busy with school, musicals, advanced choir stuff, planning/writing multiple books, and new relationships. It's an understatement to day that I've been "busy". Mainly, all I've been able to scrounge up are some quick sketches in my sketchbook, but today I was able to do some light studies today.
